Prop Firm Rule Checker
A simple diagnostic script that evaluates closed-trade history — from a live/demo account or the Strategy Tester — against the rules typically enforced by proprietary trading firm ("prop firm") evaluation challenges.
Instead of manually calculating drawdown, daily loss, and consistency after every backtest, run this script and get an instant PASS/FAIL breakdown in the Experts/Journal tab.
WHAT IT CHECKS
- Profit Target — did total profit reach the required percentage of starting balance?
- Max Daily Loss — did any single calendar day lose more than the allowed percentage?
- Max Overall Drawdown — how far did the balance drop from its peak, and did it breach the limit?
- Consistency Rule — did any single day generate an outsized share of total profit (a common rule at many firms to prevent one lucky day from carrying the whole challenge)?
- Minimum Trading Days — were enough distinct trading days logged?
HOW TO USE
1. Attach the script to any chart (symbol/timeframe do not matter — it reads deal history, not chart data), or run it right after a Strategy Tester pass.
2. Set the inputs to match the rules of the specific firm/challenge you want to evaluate:
- InpStartBalance — challenge account size
- InpProfitTargetPercent — required profit target
- InpMaxDailyLossPercent — daily loss limit
- InpMaxTotalDDPercent — overall drawdown limit
- InpMaxSingleDayPercent — consistency rule threshold
- InpMinTradingDays — minimum required trading days
- InpFromDate / InpToDate — the period to evaluate
3. Read the report printed to the Experts/Journal tab. Each rule shows PASS or FAIL, plus an overall verdict.
NOTES
- This is a read-only diagnostic tool. It does not open, modify, or close any trades — it only reads history via HistorySelect().
- Rules vary between prop firms; always confirm the exact numbers from your firm's official rule sheet and set the inputs accordingly. This script does not represent or endorse any specific firm.
- Free to use and modify.
